Adam Kenvarg is a designer, engineer, and artist located in the Bay Area, bringing a multidisciplinary approach to all aspects of his work. An alumnus of Olin College of Engineering and the Stanford Graduate Design Program, he is a natural builder, raised with a strong connection to the arts and the concept of tikkun olam (Hebrew for "repairing the world"). Adam engages with projects that foster an appreciation of the physical, aesthetic, and cultural simultaneously. His overarching goal is to build things -- be they objects, concepts, or business plans -- that help propel the world into a more prosperous, sustainable, and beautiful future.
Born in London, England and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Adam began life with an international bent and a foundational East Coast upbringing. Following high school, he joined City Year, serving as a teaching assistant at inner city Boston public elementary schools. As a major formative experience, City Year helped instill a sense of social justice and a passion for education that has continued to this day. He next attended the fledgling Olin College of Engineering as a member of its sixth graduating class. Completing his bachelor of mechanical engineering in 2011, he set off to explore the world, eventually returning in 2012 to join Autodesk as their Sustainability Education Fellow.
After his time at Autodesk, where he helped teach sustainable design and whole systems thinking, followed by another trip around the world, Adam matriculated to Stanford Graduate Design Program. Focusing on a blend of human-centered design, product design, and an exploration of art and manufacturing, he received his master's of mechanical engineering - product design in the summer of 2015. After yet another trip, this time an overland journey along the ancient Silk Road, he became a founding member of Neon Black Design, a design consultancy focusing on human-centered design and early stage product definition, with two of his friends from grad school. Following Neon Black Design he joined OTTO, a startup dedicated to developing self driving trucks, where he reprised his role as a mechanical engineer, creating sensors that will one day enable vehicles to safely and efficiently move people throughout the world.
Adam currently resides in San Francisco, California, where he appreciates the sun and upbeat West Coast attitudes, and yearns for the bagels and gruff personalities of the East.
